Sex sells…and thanks to a society with insatiable demand, sex trafficking has become a thriving industry right here in America, specifically, in Chicagoland. Chicago is in the top five cities in the nation where sex trafficking takes place.
Thanks to Selah Freedom, survivors of sex trafficking are receiving restoration, hope and healing from past abuse. Sex trafficking is a 32-billion-dollar industry that is plaguing over 300,000 American children. Selah Freedom has discovered that 100% of the young lives they serve are survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Then, between the ages of 12-14, they run away from the trauma at home and within just 48 hours of leaving home, are approached by a highly skilled predator who traffic and exploits them for up to seven years.
Selah Freedom is bringing solutions to survivors of sex trafficking by offering a Residential Program as unique as the women in their homes. They offer these young lives an opportunity to thrive through receiving trauma therapy, mentorship, a personalized education plan, horse therapy, art therapy, life skills, medical and legal aid, job placement and more. What are survivors saying about their experience with Selah Freedom?
“I am getting adjusted to the beginning of my journey. I am working on who I want to become. Learning that my past does not define nor disable me from becoming a happy and healthy woman of society. It's a vast difference of what I'm used to, but it's a lot happier and far better than I could've imagined. I've truly been blessed with this opportunity to become who I want to be. With the support and ability to learn new tools in a healthy community that can build me and working on getting through the inner turmoil of my past so I can finally be free from it.”

“This is day nine for me at Selah Freedom. As, I look back on my stay so far, I notice all the positive things I have done for myself. My days include things like nutritious meal planning and exercise. I’m so excited to actually live in an atmosphere that promotes an uplifted spirit. This is definitely a first for me. It was a little strange at first but as the days pass, I’m look forward to learning how to accept myself more and more. I can’t wait to see what the future holds. I’m excited to get to know the real me.”
